@djrubbie out this way it was actually rain, it just evaporated before hitting the ground, and ended up looking like an early 2k fps skybox getting denser and denser for as long as the moon was out. Over the course of today it thinned out, and then as the day cooled it became heavier and converted into conventional rain. Alas.
